i don't want to bore with the tedious details...but long story short: my husband was raised a jw.

he da and married me 6 years ago.

i was so appalled at the fact that his family shunned him that i insisted on a sit down with his mom to explain.

True religion is in your heart and how you feel about god, not going to meetings, not proving yourselves to Elders, not the watchtower, True belief is inside you, god is in your heart, I don't believe that god is a god who would shun you or make you stop enjoying life. You don't have to explain your view to your mother in law, you are an adult.

what rebellious actions did you or other do in your congregation, not enough to be disfellowshipped, but went a little too far.

this may be a bit off the subject, but I remember once I went to a Witness gathering, for the youth, they were playing stupid games like holding up a watchtower or Awake and you had to guess what month, and reading bible scriptures and you had to guess what book and more points if you guess chapter and verse. I was so sick of it all, they even had a guard at the door in case any worldly people tried to enter, I told the guy at the door to let me know if any worldly people show'd up I'd leave with them, Can you believe they actually had walkie talkies?? Anyway my parents made me go, I flipped off the kid who was the host of the party got my ass kicked by my dad, it was so freaken funny I wish I had a video camera.

Were your parents a different religion before JDubism?

i know an awful lot here are 3rd and 4th generation - but were there any who's parents become dubs as adults?

i'd be interested to here what it was that made an adult become a jw when not brought up that way?.

i'll relate my parents experience shortly...but its something i;ve been thinking about a lot.

Both of my parents were Catholic, they joined before I and my sister were born. I can't say what made them do it, I think it was the time leading up to 1975 I heard they got a bunch new members including my parents. Dave-T who was your mom praying to? doesn't sound like god to me, I know god wouldn't have sent JW to her, ha ha ha

Why Do Inactive Ones Sometimes Go Back To The Organization?

I know some of my cousins still go to memorial, and DC's but I always wondered why, they are more wild than I ever was, drugs, sex, babies with different dad's and smoking, well I think the only reason is simply they are programmed to just do it, plus they don't want to be shunned by the rest of the family. Its silly they are older than me in their mid 30's they should just grow up, face what you really are and get on with their life.

Panhandlers piss me off!

yesterday, my brother and his son were in town visiting.

me and the wife decided to go out and get some pizza to bring back for supper.. when we pulled up to the pizza shop, a guy came up to the car window and gave us his sob story about how he had cancer removed, how he refused to stay in the homeless shelter, and presented a stack of papers stapled together along with his mb health card.

he asked for any change that we may have.

I used to live in a heavy mexican neighborhood, when I used to got get something to eat at this taco place there were always guys outside asking for money, I told them in perfect Spanish, Sorry I only speak German, then walked in, and it worked they said sorry and let me go in. Sometimes I'd use Russian, or Polish, depending on my mood. HA HA HA, now if any of them ever answered me back in German Russian or Polish, then I'd go ahead and give them the money, still has not happend yet. :-)
